Mass for Marriage celebrated by Bishop Nicholas - Saturday 12 September 2026 - Midday
Please join us at our Celebration of Marriage, at midday in the Cathedral on Saturday September 12. The Celebrant will be Bishop Nicholas.
We had thought that this year we should make a point of including those spouses who are no longer with us in this life, in our prayers. Now this prayer will also include Fr Jon Bielawski, a good priest, who celebrated the Mass for Marriage for the last four years and who did so much to support Catholic Marriage in our Diocese.
Please pray for marriage and family life.

CCSP Annual Appeal 2026 - Grateful Hearts - Serving Others - Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September 2026
Our Annual Appeal is our biggest fundraiser of the CCSP calendar but unfortunately last year, our Annual Appeal raised just over £12,000 which is considerably less than in previous years.
This is unfortunate as the number of Essential Grant applications we are receiving from families remains high and we approved 214 grants in 2025 compared to 141 in 2024.
We do not want to turn families away who really need our help and back in May, we had to suspend the Essential Grants programme as we received an unprecedented number of applications and simply could not approve any more.
“These are challenging times for many families experiencing financial hardship. Such families are often in temporary accommodation after fleeing abuse or the breakdown of relations or the loss of their jobs due to illness and circumstances beyond their control.
The Essential Grants Programme exists to provide essential items to help relieve families’ needs. CCSP warmly encourage applications from such families for school uniforms, shoes, beds, mattresses and bedding, clothes for children and newborn babies, cots, bottles, chests of drawers, wardrobes, alongside white goods such as cookers and fridges. They require all such applications to be accompanied by a referee. The process from application to supply is usually within two to three weeks.
CCSP also need trustees. If anyone is interested in offering their time, please contact the office on 01364 645420 and ask to speak to the Chair, Shelagh Fearnley. They would love to hear from you.”

Stella Maris - Sea Sunday 2026 - Sunday 12 July 2026
This weekend we celebrate Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions.
We will hold a second collection is for Stella Maris (Apostleship of the Sea), the Catholic Church’s official maritime welfare agency. It supports seafarers both practically and spiritually.
Stella Maris is dependent on voluntary donations, so please give generously. To donate, please visit www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate or text ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5. Thank you.
