St Vincent de Paul Society

The aim of the group is to bring social justice and the friendship of true charity to all those in need.

There is no need which is outside of our concern – be it sickness or disability, mental or physical; family problems, social or economic; loneliness in old age: the alcoholic, the drug addict, the social misfit.

Meetings take place once per month on the last Thursday at 7pm in St Joseph’s Parish Hall. Visits to clients are normally weekly.

For details or if you wish to volunteer, please email Jim Logan: l.james549@gmail.com

20th September 2022

We are members of the 'Warm Welcome' Scheme

The SVP are launching the Warm Welcome initiative in our Parish on 2nd Nov. We are part of a nationwide scheme: (www.warmwelcome.uk) and a borough wide scheme, operating with our local Westham group of churches to reach out especially to those living in the area around our church.

Please know that any parishioners who feel they would benefit from this initiative are invited to come along.

The SVP would welcome more members and volunteers to help us with this and other work in the parish.

We are proud to be working together with other Christian churches to reach out to those who might be struggling this winter.

SVP Membership Support Officer for the Plymouth Diocese

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) in the Plymouth diocese is looking to appoint a Membership Support Office (MSO) to support the work of the Plymouth Central Council (CC).

The SVP mission is to actively seek out those in need and offer whatever support it can. The MSO will be integral in helping the pursuit of this mission.  Working directly with and for the CC, the MSO will be engaged in membership recruitment, training and development, working directly with members and other organisations to promote the society, organising events to enhance member experience and providing the personal link between members in the Plymouth diocese and national office.

The post is 15 hours per week, home based and working as part of national team of MSOs.

If you are interested in the post and would like further details click here or contact Lance Philpott, Head of Membership at lancep@svp.org.uk.
